Captain’s Log – August 30th, 2017

By September 1, 2017 Captain's Log

Dale and I fit the captain’s chair cushions with Jess Hobby painting in the back.

Wednesday, August 30th, 2017

Today another superstar volunteer, Dale Simpson, came by to help.  Dale and I cleaned up the studio a bit, getting ready for the open house we are doing tomorrow for The Colonial Fleet, the Battlestar Galactica fan club.  Dana Wagner and Jess Hobby picked up the late shift at 4:00 to finish the painting.

I have never upholstered anything, but the Captain’s Chair needed cushions!  So off to Jo-Anne’s for fabric, cushioning and such.  Dale and I then got to cutting the board and folding black leatherette!

Then it was off to downtown for two big Colonial Fleet events to kick off Dragon Con!  The first is “Drink All the Rum” at Trader Vic’s for fruity drinks with lots of rum, followed by the burgers at The Vortex.  Dean was already there and Crysstal and I met up with him, along with Jeff Perella (aka Big Ragu) and Carlos Munoz (the good Carlos!).

Jeff, Carlos, Crysstal, Dean and myself in a scene that looks like Car Pool Karaoke!

At Vortex for the best burgers in town!

The Atlanta skyline is beautiful because of the architecture

So after burgers it was off to Bruster’s for Ice Cream!  After four days of hard work, we deserved this!

My good buddy Jeff and I enjoy some amazing ice cream!

So the hard work has paid off.  The bridge is fully painted and ready for a showing at tomorrow’s open house for The Colonial Fleet.  The next Open House will be for the Atlanta donors and volunteers and happen during the premier of Discovery!  So stay tuned for details on that!
