The thing that makes Axanar a professional, independent film and not another “fan film” is that every single person on the crew is a professional. Yes, some of us are fans of Star Trek, just like many of the crew on TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise were fans (Think Doug Drexler, Mike and Denise Okuda, John Eaves etc.). People are chosen because of their expertise and experience, not because they are friends or family.I mention this because as we approach the launch of our next Kickstarter (roughly June 1) we are planning some major launch events and the master minds behind this are our two Public Relations Directors, Morey Altman and Mike Bawden. Both are fans and donors who offered their services and have already become invaluable to our efforts. Morey is located in Israel and handles our International PR efforts and works to get us in large national media. Mike is US based and works everything from our podcasts to our Kickstarter launch events and national geek media. Having these two pros working together gives Axanar amazing PR muscle. Add too them Bill Watters, our Supervising Associate producer who manages the convention program and oversees film festivals and PR support and Terry McIntosh who handles our website and support services, and we have a truly amazing team getting the word out on Axanar.
For our next Kickstarter we have some amazing launch events planned and we are working with a NSAA HQ friend and a NASA flight surgeon to create some amazing launch events. This time, the Kickstarter will be unlike anything you have seen before, with daily video updates, weekly live webcasts introducing new cast members, daily prize drawings and of course patches! So stay tuned for details.
