In a Holding Pattern… Until the Crazy Starts

FULFILLMENT UPDATE time, everyone!

PRELUDE to AXANAR donors… Everything is still right on track with the PRELUDE DVDs and Blu-rays (which are the only remaining portion of the rewards kits that I’m waiting for, to be able to ship ’em out). All of the content is at the printer in a queue of other orders, so right now you can think of us as a jet circling the airport, in a holding pattern with a bunch of other planes, waiting on the “all-clear” before we’re allowed to land. πŸ™‚

(And YES, if you’re wondering… the excitement is KILLING us, around here!! The discs are going to be BEYOND amazing.)

As for all of our AXANAR campaign donors… We don’t want you to feel left out, so we’ve got some good news for you, too… we’re about to begin shipping out the one item from that campaign that we’ll be able to do in advance: the patches!! (No, we weren’t going to ship anything out separately– and it WILL cost us more money that now won’t go toward the production, and WILL be a lot of extra work–but we’re honestly trying our hardest to make everyone happy.)

Please note, however, AXANAR campaign donors… shipping of the REMAINDER of your perks kits remains the same as reported many, many times previously: the kits can only be shipped–in their entirety!–once AXANAR, the feature film, is completed, which will be NEXT YEAR (2016).Β  Why? Because most of the perks from the AXANAR campaign are dependent upon content from the finished work, in order to be produced. (Makes sense, yes? πŸ™‚ )

Only a FRACTION of my physical records for Kickstarter and Paypal donors, plus Store orders…

So, what’s the bottom line? A LOT of shipping–right in the middle of convention season (which is when we kick advertising-and-promoting the AXANAR project into high gear), as well as the pre-production we’re heavy into here at the studio, AND all of the other, regular day-to-day stuff that goes on. I’ll be utilizing volunteer help, whenever possible, for the massive upcoming shipments (and by “massive”, I mean more than 10,000 envelopes, packages, etc., all passing over my desk in one huge, ungainly bunch), but no matter how you cut it, it’s a MAJOR undertaking, so please bear with us; your patience will be MUCH appreciated. πŸ™‚

Happy Trekking, everyone!

  • Chris says:

Ooooh. I hope I am in the green binder. I like green.

  • Paula Olds says:

You do an amazing job Diana! Whenever the perks finally shop it will have been well worth the wait!

  • Brenda Rezk says:

So, does that mean that the BackerKit emails went out from Kickstarter? If so, I didn’t get one.

    • Diana Kingsbury says:

We’ve decided to go a different route, Brenda; soon Ares Digital (our own, proprietary source to disseminate digital data to donors) will also be able to handle the “checkout” phase from the Kickstarter campaign. πŸ™‚

  • Rick Newton says:

Actually, I think that the donors should indulge a delay on the patches… It is extremely great that Fulfillment (a.k.a. Dianna) with the “okay” of head of Ares Studios (a.k.a. Alec) has decided to release to the Axanar donors (versus the Prelude donors) any portion of their perks, as it has indeed been said many a time that these perks would be sent as a single shipment when all the pieces were together.

Although I too have been confused a couple of times regarding the shipment dates of my Axanar perks, it has finally sunk in and I no problem with waiting for my perks until the movie is completed and ready for show.

Now, I’m hoping that those out there that are on the Axanar track for perks will take a moment and consider that splitting the shipment will dig into the money we all donated, really, to have Axanar made and that the timing is not great to request perks be sent now. A new campaign is about to begin for Axanar and part of that push is to appear at Cons and present Axanar and Ares Studios at their best. The sending of perks for the Axanar pledges at this time is not only an additional cost that should be avoided, so is doing it now right when Ares Studios is ramping up for SDCC and then the other summer Cons.

I ask ALL who donated for the AXANAR Kickstarter (not the Prelude Kickstarter) to send a clear message to Fulfillment (Dianna) that we can wait for our perks… That a little message here and there about the progress along the road to fulfillment of our perks — just to keep us from getting nervous that we have been forgotten (I don’t think this will happen, but it can provide a “warm fuzzy feeling” to be reminded that we haven’t been forgotten). Doing so will mean more for the production and a better presentation at Cons, especially at SDCC!

Can I hear an affirmative on this from all supporters!

  • Mandie says:

Can’t wait to get my first Axanar patch! Does this mean I will be getting a BackerKit email soon?

    • Diana Kingsbury says:

Mandie, see my reply to Brenda (re what we’ll be doing instead of the BackerKit)! πŸ™‚

  • J Krolak says:

I was extremely ill at the time. But come to think of it, I never did get the challenge coin from the last campaign.

    • Alec Peters says:

Please read the above blog. We haven’t sent out ANY perks for Axanar yet.

    • Diana Kingsbury says:

The challenge coins have not yet been produced, and–as we’ve been saying all along–will be shipping out next year, once we have the movie completed. πŸ™‚

  • Scott Voigt says:

As I stated in another post elsewhere, folks, reading is fundamental. It has been stated VERY clearly in MANY places in how things get shipped and when. Please go back and read what is there on the web site, the blogs, the Capt’s logs and now the fulfillment blog.

Hope that you get a LOT of volunteers Diana to help with all of the shipping. That is going to a HUGE task…

  • Stefan Redford says:

I cant remember which project I supported and I have moved house. Please advise re: process for changing address.

  • Bernard Conner says:

Diana, you need to do an opt out post or page for the seperate shipping of the patches. A lot of us wiuld rather wait and see the extra postage funds go toward the movie. I have seen the impatient folks posting and it seems very few or some that are frustrated at not receiving anything and then understand when you alec or terry set them staight. We would like every available dollar to be in the production and if I have to wait for a grand explosion of a great film and all my perks at once, that will make me much happier than a couple of the patches in my mailbox now, thank you

  • Stephen Shinsato says:

To patch or not to patch? That is the question. Although it would be nice to get a patch now, I can also wait. As stated by others, the additional postage to send out the patch in a separate mailing takes away funding from the movie production.

With that said, either send all of the patches out or don’t send any. Having a patch opt-out option would just add another item that has to be maintained when sending out the Axanar kit in 2016 (include patch for Backer Steven but not for Backer Stephen-you get the idea). Then the emails start coming in saying “where is my patch?” when the kits are shipped next year. and they have to be reminded that it was sent to them in July 2015. You get the idea.

    • Diana Kingsbury says:

Indeed we do get the idea, Stephen–more than you know–and certainly appreciate the input. πŸ™‚

If this were an ideal world, there would be one simple solution that everyone out there could agree upon, but even in Roddenberry’s vision of the future, it wasn’t quite that ideal. So, we’ll do what we have to do…

  • Jeff says:

Off subject, Sry! So have all the “Prelude To Axanar” Score CD’s shipped? I’m not in a hurry, just noticed that some had already received theirs. Thanks!

    • Diana Kingsbury says:

Jeff… all of the “Lieutenant” (PRELUDE to AXANAR soundtrack-level) kits for which I have shipping addresses have shipped out, now. However, the media from all of the higher level kits–which will include the soundtrack CD and either a DVD or Blu-ray–will not begin shipping until the PRELUDE to AXANAR DVDs and Blu-rays are back from the printer (which should be sometime this month). πŸ™‚

  • Jeff says:

My address has changed since I originally donated to the Axanar Kickstarter. Since the process of shipping perks and making the movie is taking much longer than you anticipated (no worries everyone completely understands, it’s cool), I have a feeling there will be other people in the same position I am in. Will we have an opportunity to give you a new address for shipping the perks?

    • Jeff says:

With a little searching I found the answer to my own question.
Yes, we will all get an opportunity to change our shipping address before fulfillments begin.

Thanks again for all your time, efforts and hard work. I look forward to seeing the finished film.

  • Jeff says:

Makes perfect sense to save on shipping by sending together! ! Thank you Diana for your quick response!

  • Jim says:

    Hi Diana,
with every appreciation for your dedication and work, being in England and very patient, I wonder if you could answer a questions I have asked twice before but don’t recall it being answered. Forgive me if I missed it, I have been rather ill of late, but I feel your answer will appear here and I’ll be able to locate it easily πŸ™‚
Do you know if the DVDs will be region 2 for Europe?
Thank you, keep up the good work, you are really appreciated, especially from one not known for his paperwork organisational capabilities πŸ˜‰

    • Diana Kingsbury says:

Jim, the DVDs and Blu-rays will all be region-free, so you’re covered, no matter where you’ll be playing our awesome discs!
(And thanks for the kind words; I am ALWAYS happy to help. πŸ™‚ )
